Hope everybody had a wonderful Christmas! I was lucky enough to have a job that let us have a one week paid vacation from the company so definitely thankful for that. Our Christmas was pretty chill… Autumn and I were both sick and we were in our jammies at 830 AM. We had her open all of her presents first since this was truly the first time she got to really rip it up! I think it was the cutest thing ever! We got her this beautiful, pink kitchen set and she was so happy! She didn’t even care to open the rest of her presents. We also had gifts sent from Pete’s parents from Southern California so we skyped with them so they can watch Autumn open hers. It’s been really hard not seeing our families this year or the year before that. The cost just to fly from Washington to California is ridiculous! You really need to book at least 8+ months to get a good plane ticket deals. Anyways, it was a peaceful Christmas day… white Christmas at that. It was snowing and couldn’t come in a perfect time! Now enough with the jabbering and onto with the gifts! Finance definitely hit us a little this time of year so we got each other what we could get. Pete already knows I’m a HUGE makeup addict and that’s what I got. I also may did a little Christmas shopping for myself… heehee.
Urban Decay Naked Smokey Palette: Okay, I have ALL of the Naked series and you know I had to get the Smokey palette too. It’s perfect for date nights or just a night out with the girls. It has more of the cooler-toned shades in this palette starting with beautiful neutral shimmery gold/bronze shades to silver/gray shades to matte gray/light brown shades with a nice matte highlighter shade at the end. Honestly, my favorite thing about this palette is the packaging. Can we please get a moment of silence? Yassss, well done Urban Decay. The packaging is well-designed (just like the last 2 of their Naked series) and very sturdy. I also like the back of the palette where you can see the smokiness design throughout and also how it’s slightly translucent so you can see the pans and brush. I will have more of an in-depth review when I get the chance. I did play with it a little when I used for a date night I had this past week. Let’s just say holy mole, the pigmentation is insane!
Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Palette: Oh man, who isn’t a huge Gwen Stefani or No Doubt fan? *Raises hand* I am! Of course I really REALLY wanted this. First of all, that packaging though. Did you guys see this? It’s totally Gwen and I love it! Now I didn’t really get to play with this palette yet but I did go to Ulta and swatched some of the colors and they’re pretty pigmented… like always, it IS Urban Decay. It has a lot of shades you can use for everyday but also for a night time look as well. I love that I can just throw this in my purse or great for traveling. It’s approximately about 4.5″ x 6″. It’s super cute and compact! But I do noticed some of the shades may be a repeat with just different names by Gwen… ehhh but I don’t care… I LOVE IT!
Too Faced Melted Kisses & Sweet Cheeks Set: Who doesn’t like tiny/mini things… especially makeup? Is it weird that I have a weird obsession with mini things! Mini mugs, cups, Tabasco, ketchup, jams, eraser, flowers, play doh, etc. ANYWAYS, I wanted this set because obviously, it’s small and I can just throw it in my bag but also it has colors that I can totally use everyday. I’ve tried Peony melted lipstick before and wasn’t really a fan because of the way it feels on my lips but I didn’t truly give it a chance so I want to try it again. I also wanted to try their Sweet Cheeks blushes. Again, it’s in a shape of a HEART. That right there already sold me so I can’t wait to try it out and see how the pigmentation is on my olive skin tone.
Kuretake Gansai Tambi 36 Color Watercolor Set: Something that’s NOT makeup related is this gorgeous watercolor set. I still haven’t gotten the chance to play with it but I’ve seen tons of videos especially my favorite crafter, Amy Tangerine, who had tried out the watercolor and man, it’s SO pigmented! The colors are so vibrant and in your face. Watercolors is definitely one of the mediums I would like to try out more this year. I’ve been practicing a lot with creative lettering and calligraphy that I would like to try with watercolors. Amy has inspired me to play with typography and watercolors so I shall give it a go. Check out a blog post about that!
Polaroid Zip Mobile Printer: Last but not least, one of the big things I really wanted was this awesome mobile printer. My fiance was amazing and surprised me with this gift. It was sold out for awhile but he managed to get one for me. It’s great for on the go and I wanted to do journal more, especially in my Midori Traveler’s Notebook this year. I haven’t tested it out yet but I heard great things about it.
Well that’s all I got for Christmas and I can’t wait to dive in these new makeup palettes and see what looks I can come up with! Hope you guys enjoyed your time with your loved ones because in all honesty, life’s too short and you’ll never know what’s going to happen. Be thankful to live another day and be happy you can spend one more day with your family and friends. Happy new year!
